POETRY: EXODUS
All the while
huddled
in the safely peopled dark
watching this cine-epic of the Jews
this question
Having dispatched the enemy
(Who who)
booming to death in pieces
(in verandah tactics
I counsel the sudden bomb)
could I face without yelling
with or without background music
the single shot
from the battery of guns the tightening oily rope
just after a widescreen dawn some morning
